Super Bowl Score History: The Biggest Blowouts
The most lopsided Super Bowl in history was Super Bowl XLVIII (2014), when the Seattle Seahawks crushed the Denver Broncos 43–8. Peyton Manning had set an NFL record for passing yards in the regular season that year, but Seattle's "Legion of Boom" defense dismantled the offense completely. Malcolm Smith returned an interception for a touchdown and was named MVP.
The Chicago Bears' 46–10 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX (1986) was similarly dominant. The 1985 Bears are widely considered one of the greatest defensive teams in NFL history, and their Super Bowl performance confirmed it. Quarterback Richard Dent won MVP for orchestrating the defensive masterpiece.
