The Buffalo Bills: Four Consecutive Losses

No team in NFL history has experienced heartbreak quite like the Buffalo Bills. From Super Bowl XXV (January 1991) through Super Bowl XXVIII (January 1994), the Bills appeared in four consecutive Super Bowls and lost all four. Their losses came to the New York Giants (by one point on a missed field goal), Washington, Dallas, and Dallas again. The Bills were often competitive in these games but could never finish.

The Vikings are the other franchise with four Super Bowl losses and zero wins. Minnesota lost Super Bowls IV, VIII, IX, and XI across the span of eight years. The Vikings have featured some of the most talented rosters in NFL history without ever bringing home a Lombardi Trophy.

The Most Losses With a Win on the Record

The New England Patriots lead all teams with five Super Bowl losses, but their six wins offset that total considerably. The Denver Broncos also have five losses, but only three victories. The Broncos lost Super Bowls XXI, XXII, and XXIV by historically wide margins before turning the franchise around with back-to-back wins in Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII.
