Super Bowl Locations by Year: Every Host City & Stadium

Since Super Bowl I was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in January 1967, the game has traveled across North America to some of the most iconic stadiums in sports. Warm-weather cities like Miami, New Orleans, and Tampa have been perennial favorites, while domed stadiums in cold-weather cities have also hosted the big game. Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas marked a historic first for the event.

Why Does the Super Bowl Favor Warm-Weather Cities?

The NFL prioritizes warm-weather cities and domed stadiums when awarding Super Bowl hosting rights. Cities like Miami, New Orleans, and Tampa have hosted the game a combined 25+ times. Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (2014) was a notable exception — the only outdoor cold-weather Super Bowl ever played, with temperatures around 49°F at kickoff.

Las Vegas became the newest marquee Super Bowl destination when it hosted Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 at Allegiant Stadium. The game drew a record television audience and the city is expected to host again in the future given the success of that event.
