Most Successful Super Bowl Coaches

Bill Belichick is the most accomplished Super Bowl coach in history by wins, with six championships across five different Super Bowl victories with the New England Patriots. His ten appearances are also the most of any coach. Belichick first won Super Bowl XXXVI after the 2001 season and most recently claimed Super Bowl LIII following the 2018 season. His 60% win rate across ten appearances is the best among coaches with five or more Super Bowl appearances.

Chuck Noll achieved something no other coach has matched: four Super Bowl wins without a single loss. Noll coached the Pittsburgh Steelers to championships in Super Bowls IX, X, XIII, and XIV. His four victories came within a six-year span from 1975 to 1980, one of the most dominant stretches by a single franchise in NFL history.

Bill Walsh went 3-0 in Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers, winning Super Bowls XVI, XIX, and XXIII. Walsh never lost a championship game, retiring with a perfect Super Bowl record and three Lombardi Trophies. Andy Reid, coaching the Kansas City Chiefs, has also built an impressive 3-1 record after victories in Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII.

Active Coaches With Super Bowl Experience

Andy Reid remains active through the 2024 season and is the preeminent active Super Bowl coach with three rings. Kyle Shanahan has reached two Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers but is 0-2, falling short in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LVIII. Sean McVay won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, his first and only Super Bowl appearance through 2024.

The next generation of NFL head coaches is still building their Super Bowl legacies. Nick Sirianni led Philadelphia to Super Bowl LIX. DeMeco Ryans, Kevin O'Connell, and Dan Campbell are among the younger coaches with the rosters and talent to become the next additions to this list.
